  • 50 MW Coal Power Project of Ismail Industries Ltd in Kalar Kahar (Punjab; Pakistan).

    RE2 is the consultant for the project.The project is at LOI stage.

    The Proposal for LOI, which is a complete pre-feasibility has been submitted. MoU has been signed between the project sponsors and Punjab Government to undertake the project at a fast track. The issuance of LOI and preparation of detailed feasibility are in process in parallel at this stage.

  • 10 MW Wind Project of Ismail industries Ltd in Sindh (Sindh; Pakistan).

  • 50MW Wind Power Project of China International Water and Electric Power (CWE) in Jhimpir (Sindh; Pakistan).

    RE2 is the consultant for all activities in Pakistan. The project is at feasibility stage.

    Land has been secured through a GoP lease. The site based studies have been conducted. The EPC contract, power production estimate and financial model are in process. The next stage is to reach NEPRA for tariff. The project sponsor is a government owned Chinese firm with more than 20 years history in Pakistan and intends to setup atleast 500MW in Pakistan.

    Land has been secured through a GoP lease. The site based studies have been conducted. The EPC contract, power production estimate and financial model are in process. The next stage is to reach NEPRA for tariff. The project sponsor is a government owned Chinese firm with more than 20 years history in Pakistan and intends to setup atleast 500MW in Pakistan.

  • 50MW Wind Power Project of New Park Energy in Gharo (Sindh; Pakistan).

    RE2 is the consultant for the project. The project is at feasibility stage.

    Land has been secured through GoP lease. The sponsor was the first one to accept the upfront tariff in the country. However, the project could not go through the development cycle due to demand boom in the world for wind turbines. At present, the sponsor has secured its wind turbines and has submitted the Performance Guarantee thus becoming only the second IPP to reach that milestone.

  • 10 MW Wind Project of Albario Energy in Sindh (Sindh; Pakistan).

    RE2 is the consultant for the project. The project is at LOI stage.

  • Regional Wind Resource Assessment in Kalar Kahar.

    RE2 is the consultant to carry out the whole assignment. The project is in final stage.

    The wind mast has been installed and data is retrieved since Feb, 10 with ongoing analysis. The project was financed by Higher Education Commission (HEC) and implemented by University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila through RE2 to identify potential of wind power in the region. The mast has been installed according to international standards and using US instruments to measure wind speed at six (06) different points and wind direction at two (02) different points. The height of the mast is 80m.

  • 50MW Coal Power Project of PEPCO in Kalar Kahar (Punjab; Pakistan).

    RE2 is the consultant to make the RFP. The draft has been submitted to PEPCO.

    The assignment is carried out under an initiative of PEPCO where a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project has been envisaged based on power generation thorough coal gasification. The RFP shall be offered to potential bidders which have been shortlisted through a pre-qualification process. The project shall be setup in the coal rich area of Kalar Kahar, Punjab. The RFP contains full information package related to the site access, regional information, grid availability, coal availability, water availability. The RFP also has clear procedures for selection of successful bidder and the power purchasing details.

  • 2MW Solar PV Power Project in Punjab.

    RE2 is the consultant for the project. The project is in the feasibility stage.

    This is the first LOI issued by Government of Pakistan for an IPP based on Solar PV. The project sponsor is a technical project management company. The project is being developed in Kalar Kahar, Punjab. The feasibility study is at the final stage. Solar PV has a strong potential in this part of the world with good intensity of sun available for most of the year. This project is going to open a new avenue for the power sector based on renewable energy in Pakistan, which is more tilted towards wind only at this moment.

  • Survey of possible Provision of Microfinancing Services for Energy Services in Rural Areas of Pakistan – A Project of GTZ.

    RE2 has already completed the whole assignment as independent consultant.

    As part of fulfilling the “Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency” (REEE) program objectives, GTZ funded this study with the main purpose to identify alternative and market-based approaches in providing energy services in rural areas. The German Government has shown keen interest in promoting renewable energies in Pakistan, including measures to improve energy efficiency. Since the bilateral agreement was signed in 1972, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH has been engaged in Pakistan on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

    The assignments report presents an overview of Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) of Pakistan in the context of Renewable Energy Services for rural areas and their lending portfolios. The report also identifies MFIs operating in rural electrification target areas in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan and shortlists those institutions who are interested to provide micro financing facility for energy services such as solar systems and/or its components. This assignment also identifies potential barriers to the provision of financing services to remote off-grid areas and discusses measures to address these barriers.

    The CEO of RE2 was the lead consultant for this assignment hired by GTZ. While carrying out the assignment, the team of RE2 had meetings with the top management of eighteen (18) MFIs.

  • Promotion of Sustainable Energy Production and Use from Bio Mass in Pakistan – A Project of WINROCK / UNIDO

    RE2 is an independent consultant in the project.

    Though renewable energies are flourishing in Pakistan, much needs to be done to further develop the policy framework and build capacity to develop bio mass technologies at a significant scale. Implementation Mechanisms are missing at this stage. In order to promote the use of bio mass technologies for process heat and power generation in SMEs and rural communities, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) launched this program and awarded the assignment to WINROCK International.

    The main components of assignment are Validation of Bio Mass Resource Data, Stakeholder Consultation, Design of Pilot Demonstration Projects, Project Strategy and Implementation Detailing and Project Meetings and Workshops.

    The CEO of RE2 has remained the lead consultant of the project team.
